As a Community dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we seek to respond to our vocation in the spirit of her words, ‘Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord: let it be to me according to Your word.’

This motto of the Community is also, by the grace of God, to be our response in all things and at all times.

This challenges us to be willing to put ourselves at God’s disposal as Mary did, in obedience to and acceptance of His will. We are called to surrender our own self and to ‘do whatever he tells you.’

As we journey, we follow in Mary’s footsteps, asking God to fill us with his grace that we, like her, may be lowly, obedient, faithful. Her simplicity and purity of life give us an example to follow; a way of living with God, with others, with ourselves, that invites us to a total response of our heart and our whole being. This dedication of our life to God and to the Community is the radical call of the Religious Life.

Mary is rarely mentioned in the Gospels and yet in her simple, hidden way always, points us to her Son. By our dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we too are called to wait upon God and be guided by the Spirit as she was. Then we will also bring Jesus to birth.
